Entries for the Kit Houghton Photo of the Year Award 2024 are now invited.

We are very grateful to Ariat for supporting the competition this year. They have given us vouchers of £250 for the winner, £150 for second place and £50 for third place.

The closing date for entries is 30th November 2024.

The winners will be announced during the BEMA Awards Lunch at the London International Horse Show, Wednesday 18th December 2024.

How it works

  1. Entrants must be paid up members of the British Equestrian Media Association on 1st December 2024.
  2. The entry must be taken by you, in 2024.
  3. If your entry features action from the Olympic Games then it is only eligible if you were accredited for the games.
  4. The image must be your best work from this year, the judges will be looking for the 'wow' factor.
  5. Images may be edited using standard darkroom techniques only. No AI involvement, no adding or removal of elements of any nature.
  6. Entrants may submit more than one but no more than three entries.
  7. If the number of entries requires it, there will be an initial judging process to reduce the number of entries to something in the region of 10-12.
  8. The final judging will be done by members of the BEMA committee, including one photographer and several non-photographers.
  9. Final judging will be done "blind". Entries will be given a number and each judge will rank entries with ranks given a points score used to assess an overall winner when votes are combined.
